Executive Officer's Report
USS Arizona NCC-77021
Task Group Curtin, Task Force 93

December 27, 2010 through February 20, 2011

Command Staff Comments:
There's been a bit of lag on the mission in the last week or so. We started out strong, now let's finish this mission on a strong note. If you're on the Braken Colony Away Team, talk to the XO if you've got any problems or lack of inspiration. If you're on the Arizona or the station Away Team, talk to our curmudgeonly CO for the same. Everyone should have something to write about, so if you're stuck, please come to us. Let's see those awe-inspiring posts!

Simulation Notifications:
We've got a few people who are on LOA past the time they said they would be. If this is you, no big deal, but try to let us know when you come off of LOA, so we can include you in JPs and the storyline more properly. Always make sure you let us know when you're ready to resume posting, so there aren't any misconceptions.

Post of the Month:
The Post of the Month for (briefly) December and January is "Handling Business, Bruce Lee Style," written by Captain Cowell and Lieutenant Roberts. Congrats guys, and kudos to the runner up, "That's no way to treat a lab" by Lieutenant JG Beliard.

Simulation Vacancies:
Nothing's opening up, but we still have roles in every department that can be filled. If you've got buddies that would like to write, send them our way.

Plot Synopsis:
The USS Arizona, newly commanded by Captain Nathan Cowell, was sent to the last known location of the SS North Star, a civilian freighter that had been carrying medical supplies for the Braken colony, near the Romulan Neutral Zone. Upon arrival, the Arizona found the North Star a victim of an unknown assailant, who had promptly boarded, hijacked the supplies and made off without a trace.

An Away Team consisting of the XO, LCdr Jack Mantell, Chief of Security, Major Stace DeVries, and Intelligence Chief, LCdr Darek Halsey, beamed over to investigate the ship. They interviewed the Ferengi Captain Grixx, and discovered the presence of a Romulan Biochemist by the name of S'anra. She came onboard the Arizona to assist with the remainder of the mission. The investigation into the North Star uncovered the identity of the weapons used in the theft and an unusual computer virus employed on the North Star's systems.

The Security department investigated the evidence collected from the North Star, and by postulation and through a friend of Major DeVries, they found a link to a nearby outpost on the edge of the Neutral Zone. At this time, Security also arranged for a guard/escort for S'anra, who had since been placed in charge of the Science division, ahead of Lt JG Thomas Beliard.

The Arizona made its way to the Braken colony proper, where the rest of its crew, including several department heads, had been sent ahead. These crewmembers reported widespread sickness among the colonists, and so an Away Team was assembled to beam down to assist.

The CO and XO met with Colonial Administrator Adam Parker, only to realize he was harboring a sick Romulan woman. While the XO confronted the Administrator, the CO and the ill woman beamed up to the ship for treatment. Additional assignments were made and the remainder of a fairly large Away Team were beamed down, along with shuttles for contingency. with the Away Team's preparations set, the Arizona headed out of orbit to investigate a station in the area which, according to the Chief of Security's contacts, was reported to be a haven for criminal activity.

The Arizona has arrived at the station and is beaming over an Away Team to investigate, hopefully to reclaim the missing supplies and bring its hijackers to justice. On the Braken Colony, the Away Team there is dividing up tasks, preventing unruly colonists from hoarding more supplies than they need and treating the sick, while attempting to investigate further treatment of the disease, and perhaps its very origins.
