Who's The Boss?

Posted on Fri Jul 15th, 2011 @ 12:47pm by Lieutenant JG Toshie Minamoto & Lieutenant JG Paul Akron & Lieutenant JG Elizabeth Marion & Captain Nathan Cowell MD

Mission: Too Close for Comfort...
Location: Bridge, USS Arizona
Timeline: Immediately after 'The Machine Minders'

As Alexis moved onto the bridge, she passed another officer heading into the turbolift she'd just exited. She returned his nod, but didn't have time to reply. A Cardassian? She thought. She didn't have a problem with them, she'd just never seen one in a Starfleet uniform. In any event the sight did not faze her, as if she wanted to see a stranger sight, all she had to do was look in a mirror.

Continuing on across the bridge, Alexis spied a man seated at the helm controls. She couldn't yet tell if he was someone she should be saluting, or vice-versa. Ignoring the helm officer for now, she turned instead toward who she assumed was running the show. She was looking for a lieutenant, and Minamoto was an Asian sounding name; a gold-collared woman seemed to fit the bill on both counts.

"Pardon me, Lieutenant... Minamoto?" Alexis said tentatively. The young woman was rather striking, but Alexis kept her demeanor direct and professional. In what felt like another life, she may have considered making a dapper attempt at first contact in a more appropriate setting... but now Alexis no longer thought she had it in her.

Toshie nodded to the Marine Major she was talking to when Alexis entered the bridge. Three in a row, must be something about the chair. That was her thought when she turned her eyes over to the red-collared woman coming over to her. She gave a warm smile as her head moved in response. "Yes, I'm Lieutenant Minamoto." Her eyes moved down from the woman's face to glance at her rank pips, "Lieutenant....?"

"Sylvari." Alexis finished smoothly. "Alexis Sylvari. Flight Control." She figured that would get a response from the helm officer seated up front, giving her a chance to figure out where she stood. "I've just come aboard, and am ready for orders." She looked around slightly, wondering where all of the senior officers were.

"Ah, welcome aboard, then," Toshie replied. "Most of the senior staff is on the third planet, where we are heading currently, so things are pretty quiet at the moment and there isn't much of a welcoming ceremony until they all come back." She paused as she rested a hand on the back of the center chair, "Flight control, you say? How do you feel about going on duty now?"

Alexis had been expecting... hoping to go on duty since coming aboard, if not longer than that. It had been months since she'd last been at the helm of anything, but she'd kept up with her training, doing her best to keep her skills razor sharp, even if their was no actual outlet in which to put them to the test. But, if need be, she was also more than content heading down to the shuttlebay to direct the efforts there.

"I'm ready, Lieutenant." Alexis said to Minamoto. "Just tell me where you need me."

Lieutenant Marion cast a glance over at Ensign Akron, who was looking rather uncomfortable all of a sudden. Just when he'd gotten comfortable being at the helm, someone else came along to oust him. He was about to say something when the console in front of Lieutenant Marion chirped, drawing his attention toward her and Elizabeth's attention toward the console.

"Lieutenant, there's an incoming docking request from... the Phoenix, it would seem they're in a bit of a hurry as well," the Operations Officer remarked as she looked over the information.

Ensign Akron sighed and got up from the console, "I'll head down there and make sure their docking goes off without a hitch. Don't want the Commodore upset with anyone after just coming back."

Paul disappeared into the turbolift, leaving the rest of them to their work.
