Counting Heads, pt1

Posted on Thu Aug 11th, 2011 @ 9:14am by Lieutenant Torrna Maliya MD & Lieutenant JG Shoshanah Sima

Mission: Tomorrow's Arizona
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Prior To 'Things That Go Bump'

ON:

Maliya, after having finished a very frustrated personal log, stepped out of her office, looking for the new Head Nurse she'd gotten just before they'd left. Another one of her crew she'd not had the chance to meet properly. And this one was head of her nursing staff, so she best hop to it quickly, whilst getting some work done aswell. She knew Lieutenant Sima would be on duty now, so she'd have to be somewhere in Sickbay.

Lieutenant Commander Aral Aix had just left and Shoshannah got back to work. She was still learning the layout of the sickbay and hadn't yet gotten to meet the CMO. When Shoshannah came on board, the CMO had been busy. Shoshannah just got busy doing her job. Shoshannah was busy catagorizing some medkits for use when she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. She turned around.

"May I help you?" Shoshannah said politely. She wasn't quite sure who the person standing in front of her was.

Maliya raised an eyebrow, scrutinizing the younger woman. "You're Lieutenant Sima, I take it?" she asked.

Shoshannah gazed back at the woman standing in front of her. "Yes I am. And you would be?" She inquired.

Maliya chuckled, "I'm Doctor Torrna, the CMO, Nurse Sima."

Shoshannah smiled alittle embarrassed. "Sorry, I didn't know." Shoshannah reached behind her to grab a padd of the listed meds that were needed to be replicated and handed it to Maliya. "I have finished the inventory of the meds and here is what we're low on. I still haven't gone over the tricorders yet to make sure they are all in tip top shape." Shoshannah said formally. She wasn't quite sure how to be around the CMO yet. One thing Shoshannah hated was trying to get to know new people, but she tried. "I hope I can do my duties to your satisfaction."

Maliya waved it off, "Just do your job properly, that's all I want. I hate suckups. If you got something to say, say it straight on, no sugaring it." she said, looking at the Trill.

"Sounds good to me. I don't like being coddled myself and I don't plan on coddling others. I want you to know that I will not tolerate the nurses being slack in their jobs. I feel that as nurses, we have to anticipate the Doctor's every need." Sima said.

Maliya nodded, "Alright, we need to do a head count. Check everyone who calls us against the passenger manifest. Start with the momet the shit it the fan...I need to keep tabs on who's reported in and who's not. Get me an updated list every 3 hours."

"I will get right on it. I will have one of the older nurses help me since I am still trying to learn everyone onboard." Sima replied.

Maliya nodded, "Do what you need just get it done."

"I will." Sima replied. "I think I will like it here on the Arizona, but I will reserve my judgement until I am here alittle longer and have gotten to know the crew alittle better. My last ship was not the easiest to be part of and I don't really want to go through that again."

Maliya waved it off again, she didn't care.

"Anyway, welcome." she said finally.

"Thank You." Sima said. "I probably should get back to work. I hear the CMO can be a witch at times." Sima said with a smile.

Maliya laughed a genuine laugh at that. "I like her already..." and with that, she returned to her own duties.
